Girish Karnad Memorial NIF Lecture
The Foundation has endowed an annual New India Foundation Lecture, delivered by a distinguished scholar or writer on an extraordinary range of themes around modern India.
Initially hosted in a different city every year, the lecture was conducted in partnership with various reputed public institutions. It has been based out of Bangalore since 2010 and, since the pandemic year, is now also being broadcast digitally.
The NIF Lecture was renamed in 2019 to the ‘Girish Karnad Memorial Lecture’ in honour of the late multi-lingual scholar and playwright.
