The New India Foundation invites proposals for papers to be presented at a workshop on ‘The Craft of Historical Biography’, to be held in Bengaluru in August 2020. We invite proposals for papers by aspiring biographers to be presented at a workshop directed by Ramachandra Guha, Historian and Trustee of The New India Foundation.

The workshop on historical biography carries forward the New India Foundation’s work in promoting high-quality scholarship on all aspects of independent India.

Writing is a solitary business; crafting a biography one of the most difficult and complex of literary enterprises. This workshop is an exciting opportunity for aspiring biographers to present their work to critical scrutiny, and to learn from and engage with their peers.
